Thank you to all who left comments on my “Brainstorm Live with Me” blog post last month! I wish you could each participate in the brainstorm….
Today, as promised, here are the winners: Linda Sammaritan, Pamella Bowen, Susan Borres-Sanchez, Heather Hart, and Steven G. Hightower. These five people will spend at least an hour live with me on Zoom, to brainstorm a title for my novel to be released early 2021.
Winners, please email me at deb[at]DebraLButterfield.com with your best email address so I can send you the ARC of this story. You’ll want to read it prior to our meeting later this month so you know what the story is about. If you find you cannot participate, please let me know and I will draw another name.
I can’t speak for the winners, but I can hardly wait for this brainstorm! I’ve been calling this novel “Sally and the Cowboy” since I wrote the first scene back in 2009. Yes, 2009!
This novel started as a writing assignment for a course I was taking. At some point after that, several years probably, I decided to develop it into a novel. Other writing projects and my freelance editing work demanded my time and it wasn’t until late 2018 that I decided it was time to finish this story.
The main characters—Sally Clark and Chase Reynolds III—underwent quite a transformation from that first scene to the finished product. Yet, many characteristics of each remained the same.
When I first began my journey as a writer, I read that C.S. Lewis wrote the kinds of books he liked to read. I took that to heart and have done the same. I’ve had a lot of fun writing this book, and just as much fun reading it. Several scenes make me laugh every time I read them.
My critique group has given me valuable feedback on the story as I wrote. Thank you! They said they enjoyed it. But the real test is yet to come—when the book releases to the public. Still and all, I am very interested and apprehensive about what this group of brainstormers will have to say about the story.
I think every writer is apprehensive about what they write. Of course, we can’t please everyone no matter what it is we do or create. But I don’t know any writer who doesn’t desire for his/her book to make a difference in the lives of readers, whether those writers write for life change or to entertain. I am no different.
I hope my readers will enjoy this book as much as I have.
Stayed tuned. As soon as I have a title, I’ll let you know.
